Success Is Measured
This Way
Dave Scott, 2006
This is an ongoing series of drawings I have been working on for some
time. If one uses conventional drawing techniques, the artist uses
their body to imprint ideas onto the drawing surface. I am not interested
in this type of expression. Instead of drawing in this manner, I place
the drawing materials in a public space and allow the environment
itself to create the drawing.
As much as possible, my own ego is left out of the creative process
and the end results are not tampered with in any manner.
Only three choices are made:
1. What drawing materials do I use?
2. Where do I place them?
3. And for how long?
The drawings become a record of time and place. The latent image on
the paper is developed by the activities within the environment such
as traffic flow, weather and other local events.
