Wire Music
Dave Scott, 1983
A thick metal wire is suspended between two trees
or other supports and a phono cartridge is attached to one end of
the wire. Wind blowing across the wire sets up vibrations which are
picked up by the phono cartridge, amplified by an an audio amplifier,
and recorded by a cassette tape recorder.
I recorded about two hours of sounds and the tape was played as part
of an exhibition at the Chidlaw Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Unfortunately, the recording has been lost.
