Little Billy is only 10 years old but he remembers his past life as a Roman soldier. He can tell you where he fought and he can remember his name. You go to look up the information to validate his claim and find out that there was indeed a Roman soldier with the exact name Billy gave you. Other information can be verified such as the equipment he used, the language he spoke, and even details about the home he once left to became a soldier.
Wow, Billy just proved that people have past lives. Right?
Wrong.
Here is what I believe is happening with people who claim to have lived before. There is what I believe to be a mass consciousness. A giant pool of spiritual consciousness that everyone is a part of, especially after we have passed away. Some people can tap into this consciousness while still alive. When someone claims to have been Cleopatra in a past life, what they are actually doing is picking up some of this pool of consciousness – in this case it would be the memory of the person once known as Cleopatra. It doesn’t mean that the person picking up these memories used to be Cleopatra in a past life. It only means that this person is able to tap into the consciousness that was once Cleopatra. They may remember details about Cleopatra’s life or the people Cleopatra once knew, but it doesn’t mean the person ever lived a past life.
In fact, we are ALL Cleopatra!
Anyone, anywhere could at some time “remember” being Cleopatra because either by accident or by fate, their consciousness temporarily collides and intermingles with the spiritual energy that was once the person known as Cleopatra. It’s a rare event but it does happen and would explain why some people claim to have lived before.
Anyway this is my theory and, even though it’s far-fetched, I think it’s a lot easier to believe than the possibility of physical reincarnation.
